Description: Shingen’s Last Step 

Nobunaga is working on his decisive strike against Takeda for the very last time. He sends Oda Nobukado to wipe out Sanada’s army. In a scene where armored hordes clash in bloody hand to hand combat, the great weapons of Samurai are used with derring-do and blood-curdling sounds, knights and samurai fall to sword in dramatic fashion. A huge dust cloud floats over the battlefield with Nobunaga and Sanada’s forces, it is a monument to warriors’ valor and grandeur. The noblest of enemies- Takeda- has finally met his own great, final end: under the leadership of Nobunaga, he and his closest allies from throughout the land have been wiped out. His path has been cleared for Nobunaga’s final onslaught.

Nobunaga in the aftermath of his victory writes that he regrets that he could not fight against Sueyoshi, but he is glad that the emperor ended his life well and that Shingen is at peace. However, as he tries to take some much-needed rest he is surprised by the sudden arrival of Oda Nobukado.

As the Empire’s finest general, Nobukado has no equal in his expertise as a military man or the ruthless cold-bloodedness that marks his campaign. He has the firepower and the resources to wipe out the remnants of Sanada’s army. However, it’s not just the Japanese army that Nobunaga is worried about: the summit negotiations to end the battle are due to take place soon, in Obando.

What’s new:

Pros:Shingen has many talents. He is a great warrior, and he knows how to fight dirty in hand to hand combat. He can handle a large volume of soldiers and can strike lightning fast on his feet. Facing an overwhelming contingent of samurai is no sweat for him. Cons:Shingen is still a boy, so he’s not as hardened as he will later become. He’s not an elder statesman, but a conquering king. This means he is arrogant, easily angered and a bit naive. His stamina is not what it will be either. Sakamoto’s Strategy: Bring more men to the front, but do so far back. No palaces, no treasure. Only this and fighting fury. Cons:Takeda is still outnumbered, and many troops are still at the rear. Takeda will pull back and regroup. Takeda has no shame. He’s earned the nickname "Killer" for a reason. Shingen’s Strategy:Try to cut off the retreat path of the gaijin. Cut their supply lines. Sanada’s men are already retreating and are on a narrow path, so engaging them there would force them to flee into the narrow, wooded area that is easily blocked with some strong men. Mallets:Brown and army colors. Takeda’s Strategy: Takeda’s troops are concentrated. Strike quickly, and keep pressure on the retreating ‘inkasen. Keep maneuvering to where the pursuers are closer to the pursuers. Keep them off of the narrow path that is behind them. Get these men to the main castle. Turn the game into a game of "catch me if you can". Terms : Each side will receive 5 generals and 50 warriors. Fight slowly for the first thirty turns. Aggression can be normalized starting at 35 points of influence by the Uesugi. Their 5 generals may include a lord, a general, and a retainers. Their 50 warriors may include a samurai (the blue bar) and a swordsman (the black bar). The general may be a knight (camel), general (cow), and ground general (horses). The retainers can be dice or coins. Retainers can be combined with other military units and may have their own daimyo. A lord can (and usually will) be a rank above an emperor.

A while back on GameBanana I posted a screenshot of the highly anticipated NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION Scenario 9 which is an actual free download, so I decided to post that here because it’s a decent turnaround from my previous post. I can honestly tell you that Scenario 9 is a great scenario in the tapestry of Shingen’s arcs and it is definitely worth playing. Should you already own Scenario 8 then you can download this scenario for free too, which is always nice. Here’s how to get the game and the scenario.
